ECTs and Mentors September 2025

Find the conferences, clinics and resources you need if you are an ECT or Mentor in September 2025 cohort.

ECTs

All conferences & clinics are compulsory.
We recommend that you attend all events with the same group if possible.
If you are unable to attend a clinic / conference with your group, please attend another most suitable one by booking on our website.
Please note, dates are provisional and subject to change, We will always inform you of any changes.

ECT Conference 1: Enabling condition for the ECT programme & managing workload and wellbeing (September 2025)

Location: St James' Park Newcastle

Arrival time: From 9:00am Session time: 09:30 am - 3:30 pm

Monday 15th September 2025: Secondary

Tuesday 16th September 2025 : Primary & EY

Wednesday 17th September 2025 : SEND

ECT Clinic 1: High expectations (November 2025)

This session will build on participants’ understanding of adaptive teaching and how it is supported by formative assessment strategies. ECTs will also reflect on which aspects of their current practice support adaptive teaching, and through engaging with examples of teaching practice as well as discussion, further develop their understanding of how to be an adaptive teacher. It is advised that participants bring a lesson plan / resource that they have already planned to support with implementation.

Please ensure that you have a working camera and microphone and are signed into your own device in a suitable environment for a meeting.

ECT Conference 2: Adaptive teaching (February 2026)

This session will build on participants’ understanding of adaptive teaching and how it is supported by formative assessment strategies. ECT Clinic 2: Working together (March 2026)

In this clinic we will explore how teachers can hold effective conversations with a range of people to support pupil wellbeing, motivation and progress. ECTs will understand the components of an effective professional conversation and know how effective conversations look in a range of contexts during the session. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on current practice when holding conversations with others.

ECT Clinic 3: Effective Feedback (May 2026)

This clinic explores the ways in which teachers can give timely and effective feedback that supports pupils progress and is considerate of workload. The session supports teachers to understand the underlying features of effective feedback and the place it has in supporting adaptive teaching. We will also explore different forms of feedback with the classroom context.
